Wired Mode (3.5mm Audio)

This guide explains how to use your Engage Pro Elite with a wired audio connection.

🔌 What is Wired Mode?

Wired mode outputs audio through the 3.5mm audio jack using an external speaker or amplifier.

In this mode:

  • Bluetooth is disabled
  • Audio is sent directly via cable
  • Connection is immediate (no pairing required)

A video demo for this can be seen here -> Connecting via Aux cable

▶️ How to Enter Wired Mode

  1. Plug a 3.5mm audio cable into the device
  2. Connect the other end to:
    • a speaker
    • an amplifier
    • or headphones (for testing)
  3. Ensure the external device is powered on and volume is set appropriately
  4. Hold Button 4 on the hand unit
  5. If Pro Elite is powered on press Button 2 on the main board to reboot it or just power on
  6. Boot sound will play and Button 4* can be released

✅ Expected Behaviour

  • Audio should play immediately when triggered
  • No connection delay (unlike Bluetooth)
  • Button inputs should trigger sounds as normal

🔁 Switching Back to Bluetooth Mode

To return to Bluetooth mode:

  • Simply power the device on without holding Button 4

The device will revert to default Bluetooth behaviour.

❌ Common Issues

No Audio Output

  • Check cable is fully inserted
  • Check external speaker is powered on
  • Increase volume on connected device

Very Low Volume

  • Increase volume on external speaker/amplifier
  • Check audio source settings

Still No Sound

  • Confirm you entered wired mode correctly (Button 4 held at boot)
  • Try a different 3.5mm cable
  • Test with wired headphones to isolate the issue

🧪 Testing Tip

Wired mode is useful for testing:

  • If audio works in wired mode but not Bluetooth → likely a Bluetooth issue
  • If audio fails in both modes → check SD card, files, or firmware
